The Tacoma Trails Challenge is a 3-week-long event encouraging exploration of our local parks and trails. Being in nature is good for your mental and physical health. Complete 5 challenges or log 25 miles from May 25-June 16 to earn badges and win prizes. It’s FREE!

Park Spotlight: Ferry Park

Free! Come out and play at your neighborhood park! Connect with your community at Ferry Park. We’ll have both scheduled and drop-in activities throughout the 2nd week of June. Park Guides will be available at the park Tuesday-Thursday (June 4-6) from 2-5 pm.

Summer Late Nights

Tacoma middle and high school students will have a free place to get dinner and hang out with friends every weeknight this summer!

Starting June 24, Summer Late Nights opens across Tacoma, with schools, community centers and non-profits opening their doors to keep teens safe and engaged. Middle and high school students can get dinner every night and participate in open gym, art and music activities, and hang out with friends.

Beginner Kayaking Trip

Meet at the Boston Harbor Marina

(Ages 10+) Launch in quaint Boston Harbor and paddle South past the Dofflemyer Point Lighthouse exploring the South Sound’s Budd Inlet.

Ultimate Frisbee League

Now open for registration

(Ages 7-15) Learn the fundamentals of Ultimate Frisbee, sportsmanship and teamwork while having fun and meeting new friends. Registration closes June 30 and practices begin the week of July 8.

Metro Parks Tacoma, the Kraken’s One Roof Foundation, and Virgnia Mason Franciscan Health are proud to announce the winners of the Verlo Sport Court Youth Art Contest! Of the wonderful submissions received, nine were selected to represent the creativity and talent of Eastside youth on the improved sport court coming to Verlo Playfield later this year.
