First Week Learning Spotlights

The Joy of Starting the Day in Junior Kindergarten

Good morning from SA's JK class! Days in JK begin with outdoor play and morning meeting, where students greet one another, perform classroom jobs, answer the question of the day, and share in fun and educational morning routines.

Setting the Stage for a Healthy Year of Connection

The first week of school is all about the joy of being together and laying foundations for a healthy and successful school year! In a community building activity in fourth grade, students each created a "connection hexagon" by writing different things that are important to them on each side of the hexagon. Students then connected their hexagons in small groups and as an entire class. The class reflected on how we are all connected in some way and how our differences can actually be our strengths.

Middle School Advisory Draft

Middle school students enjoy weekly community time as well as meetings with their advisory groups. To kick off the school year, 6th grade students were drafted into their advisory groups. Advisory groups for grades 6-8 will come together each week for friendship building across grade levels, mentoring from their advisor, community service, snacks, and (of course) fun!

SA Upper School 11th and 12th Grade Students Earn College Credits at Catawba
