Resolutions for Diocesan Convention Due September 10

One of the important works of the Diocesan Convention is the consideration of resolutions. Resolutions help the diocese direct itself as it moves on the way, following Jesus. Do you want to write a resolution for Diocesan Convention? If so, it needs to be sent to resolutions@ecww.org on or before September 10.

If you have questions about how to write a resolution, the best place to look is at the actions of past conventions. The resolutions that were submitted will give you a good template. If you have more questions, you can email the Rev. Jedediah Fox, chair of the Resolution Committee, the.rev.jedediah.fox@gmail.com for more help.

81st General Convention Addresses Palestinian Suffering

The Episcopal Church approved nine Palestinian-related resolutions last month, supporting a ceasefire in Gaza, the provision of US aid, conditioning US military assistance on human rights, and support for a long-term solution based on equal rights for Palestinians and Israelis.

Diocesan House Renovations

Renovations at Diocesan House have begun! Due to the extensive interior and exterior work on Diocesan House, there will be limited access to the building until the Fall of 2024, and staff members will be arranging alternate meeting locations during the renovation. If you have any questions about the renovations, please contact our Diocesan Property Manager, The Rev. Dr. Dennis S. Tierney, at dtierney@ecww.org.

Visit the Diocesan Altar Guild

Diocesan Altar Guild (DAG) will be at Diocesan House as often as possible: please call ahead if you wish to come visit on Tuesday or Wednesday from 10:30 am - 5:00 pm at 206.826.7211 to reach the DAG room directly. For appointments on other days, if needed, call Sherry at 206.364.4707.

Parking will be across the street or on the south side of Saint Mark’s Cathedral. Be sure to get a parking slip at the South Door Office to put in your car. It is not a long walk: a person can be let off at the front of Diocesan House before parking elsewhere. Only one space at Diocesan House is available for Disabled Parking.

Potluck for Democracy

As division, fear, and conflict continue to grow in our communities, nation, and world, Paths to Understanding (PTU) and the Seattle University Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement (CEIE) are partnering to create the “Potluck for Democracy.” With a toolkit and supporting resources, we want to provide you everything you need to gather people to share a simple meal with the primary goal of building relationships that foster hope for and belief in our common humanity.

Churches, mosques, temples, community groups, service clubs, book clubs, and quilting groups are in every neighborhood and community in our nation. We have the power to come together across lines of difference to see each other as human, to reduce the loneliness and isolation we are suffering from. We have the power to gather over a meal, get to know each other better, and strengthen our democracy.
