Accidental Polyamory and Banishment. After trip 60 to pick up prescriptions at the pharmacy, it occurred to me that we had entered a polyamorous relationship with our favorite lesbian pharmacist. We greet each other with love and affection almost every day and wish each other a good day full of heart as we depart. It's perfect, there are no polyamorous marital negotiations about dinners, laundry sorting, or organic bananas. Not to mention dirty socks on the sofa.

However, we must watch ourselves at the living facility where our parents are. We have taken to sneaking over and finishing their jigsaw puzzles. We are somewhat disguised as residents with our grey hair, but our absence at meals is noticed. The head lady told us she had a room for us. Tempting, all meals prepared, no housekeeping, and daily exercise class. There is bingo, jigsaw puzzles, and crafting. Not to mention excursions on the senior minibus. We're saving our nickels.

The new Trader Joe's is still bringing in the masses. Unfortunately, they shop like barbarians unaware of Trader Joe's shopping etiquette. No such thing as a two-way aisle. Both sides are full of slow-moving shopping carts traveling in both directions at the same time. Couples enamored with the new selections weave from side to side explore. Cecil calls to Mary to dart over quickly before the items are gone, leaving her cart blocking 20 people behind her and 10 in front. The place looks like a adhd cats jamboree. I ended up parking my cart and dashing around, hand-gathering my items. We need some California shoppers here for mentorship. But wifey is happy with her lentils curls and pub cheese and my sanity is small price to pay. Have a good week.

"When we are young, it’s the illusion of perfection that we fall in love with. As we age, it’s the humanness that we fall in love with- the poignant stories of overcoming, the depthful vulnerability of aging, the struggles that grew us in karmic stature, the way a soul shaped itself to accommodate its circumstances. With less energy to hold up our armor, we are revealed and, in the revealing, we call out to each other’s hearts. Where we once saw imperfect scars, we now see evidence of a life fully lived.” Jeff Brown

My book Travels Into Discomfort is available on Amazon.

It is a travel adventure in its prose and a journey to the heart in its poetry.
