Your role in Digital Accessibility

Digital Accessibility is the responsibility of every Jefferson County employee, but taking the first step towards making your work and services digitally accessible can be overwhelming. That is why we've created a checklist to help you get started.


Getting Started 



Remediation 


  • Update all public-facing web pages by January 31, 2025

  • Work with the Digital Signage, Kiosks & Public Meeting Tools Working Group to ensure that digital signs, kiosks, and meetings are accessible by January 31, 2025. Please contact Working Group leader - Mark Danner 

  • Work with the Technical Tools Working Group to ensure that apps are accessible by January 31, 2025. Please contact Working Group leader – Pam Harden  

  • Contracts for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) should be reviewed by your attorney to see if they need to be modified for accessibility by June 27, 2025. Please contact Contracts & Procurement Working Group leader with any questions - Kurt Behn 

  • Update all internal web pages by June 27, 2025

Creating New Content 


 

Digital Accessibility Accommodation Request Process 


  • When a community member request is received, a ServiceNow ticket will be created for the department contact 

  • The department contact, in collaboration with the Digital Accessibility Coordinator, will research problem, develop solution, and document completion within 90 days

Priority Lists


Over the past couple of months, the Content Strategy team has developed a prioritization list for external facing PDF documents and web pages. Those pages and documents were ranked based on community use and priority. Over the next few weeks, the Content Strategy team will develop a similar list for all internal facing web pages and PDF documents.

Service Now Tickets


For employees seeking support on Digital Accessibility, the Jeffco Web Team is currently offering office hours. In the coming weeks, a ServiceNow Ticket option will also be available for employees seeking support on digital accessibility efforts.

Progress Reports


The Content Strategy team is working to create a dashboard to include on both the internal and external websites. This dashboard will be available to all employees and community members and will track progress made on the remediation of digital assets for Digital Accessibility.
