Hello New AHS Students and Families,

We were glad to meet many of you last night at our Academic Advising for New Families event! Our apologies if you were attempting to attend virtually. We ran into unanticipated technical challenges, and were not able to record the session, but will share all the information here.

The presentation began with this slideshow about Course Selection and Postsecondary Readiness, which helps set the stage for thinking through choices ahead for you as we get ready to ask you to submit course requests for the 2024/25 school year. Please read through it!

Next, we shared the following resources:

Now is the time to begin your work at home as a family determining which electives your student(s) will request. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Determine which periods your student will be able to take electives by looking at the appropriate Scheduling Template
  2. Review elective choices offered in the periods your student can take electives
  3. Decide upon a 1st and 2nd choice for each period your student can take electives based upon interests and goals for after high school

We will email all new families in early May with step-by-step instructions about how to submit elective choices using the Parent Portal of Infinite Campus.

If your student is transferring to AHS as a 10th, 11th or 12th grade student, please reach out to Erin to schedule an individualized conversation where we will review transcripts and make sure they are on track to meet all AHS graduation requirements. Also reach out to Erin if your student is interested in enrolling in any offsite concurrent enrollment classes at FLC or PCC next year.

If your student is transferring in as a senior, please reach out to Elliot to begin discussing strategies for completing our LINK Internship requirement.

We look forward to getting to know you all as we work with students and families to help set everyone up for success after high school!
