Abbott Nutrition Recall
The MCAAP has become aware of a voluntary formula recall on certain lot numbers of Abbott's ready-to-feed liquid formula product including the brands Similac 360 Total Care, Similac 360 Total Care Sensitive, Similac Special Care 24, Similac Pro Total Comfort, Similac NeoSure, and Pedialyte Electrolyte Solution.

In less than 1% of the recalled lots, there is a potential that the bottle caps may not have been sealed completely. If spoiled products are consumed, gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting and diarrhea could result.

You are strongly encouraged to assess any products you may have to ensure patient safety. Here is the following guidance on the lots included in the recall and steps to take.

What should you do:

  • Check and hold your inventory for the specified lots. Here is information about how to locate the product lot information.

  • Please complete the Product Response Form and return it by e-mail by October 28, 2022 using the information indicated at the bottom of the form. Once the completed Product Response Form is returned to Abbott, you will receive instructions on how to return the product within your inventory.

  • If you have patient samples: Please continue to hold product. Your Abbott sales representative will be contacting you to coordinate product return.

  • Please immediately notify patients who received product affected by this recall. If they are unsure if they have products from the affected lots, they can visit similacrecall.com to view a list of impacted lot numbers or use the lot number checker on the webpage.
