Meet Our Aquatics Programmer – Braeden Diachok

1.     Years in the aquatic industry?

I have been in the Aquatic Industry for 9 years. I started my aquatic journey here at the Abbey Centre as a volunteer lifeguard back in 2016. Since then I have learned many skills that have brought me to where I am today.

2.     What do you teach/certifications?

Over the years I have been fortunate to take more advanced courses in the aquatics industry. Some of these courses include: National Lifeguard Instructor allowing me to teach the next generation of lifeguards and Standard First Aid Instructor allowing me to teach the important skill of being a first responder. I also hold the Pool Operations 1&2 certifications giving me the knowledge of operating a pool safely and to AHS standards.

3.     Why are you passionate about swimming and aquatics?

I am passionate about swimming and aquatics because it is such a great activity to enjoy on a hot summer day and I am passionate about aquatics because I like to share the knowledge that I have learned over the years to the people that look up to me like how my mentors shared their knowledge with me.

4.     What was your best moment ever in aquatics?

One of my best moments in aquatics was probably my first rescue as a lifeguard. It felt very satisfying to use all of the knowledge that I had learn as a volunteer lifeguard and through all of the courses that I took to become a lifeguard to safe someone's life

5.     A fun fact about you.

A fun fact about myself is that I have many hobbies such as, working on cars, board games, camping and obviously swimming
