MARCH 3RD, 2021
"You get a ribbon. And you get a ribbon. And you get a ribbon. And you get a ribbon..."

What I imagine it sounds like when Oprah gives away ribbons...
Accomplishments come in all shapes and sizes. Let's be honest, there are days when showering and finding matching shoes feels like a win. Maybe getting out of bed and getting into the shower was your win, cause we all know matching shoes can have its struggles. Regardless of what you're logging in your play book these days as W's, I want you to know that everything you have done and will continue to do, matters. You matter. Your business matters. Your staff matters. I'm sharing these sentiments because in one week's time, the Elkhorn Chamber is scheduled to present awards and offer praise and validation for the ongoing efforts to but a few of our partners.

I do not tend to be an advocate for the "everyone gets a ribbon" arena. But in this moment, I truly want to give each and every one of our business partners a high-five with a blue ribbon or trophy or vacation getaway to celebrate how truly amazing each of you are. Everyone excelled, even if that simply meant surviving the day and getting up to do it all again.

Next week Thursday we will stream live, our Annual Dinner Awards ceremony. But the real awards ceremony is right now...

"Eh hmmm (tap tap tap) is this thing on?...
This past year was a doozy. From Covid "crazy" to quaran-tinis, everyone gave one heck of an effort to be bold and brave and keep the liquor stores employed. (pause for audience laughter)
In light of everything, you, the person reading this, did your absolute best to protect, encourage and support those around you. You demanded more of yourself. You deserve a round of applause and I'd like to present our next award for being AWESOME, to YOU! (insane clapping & cheering)

We've learned two things here. One, I cannot, and probably should not write stand-up comedy. Two, you are a tremendous value to our community and it is our honor to call you, partner.
See you next week for dinner!
Be mindful. Find joy. Believe in kindness!
And of course, keep sanitizing!
