KCWAA Annual Conference
The Kansas Women Attorneys Association's Annual Conference is coming soon! KWAA has specifically invited AWL members to join them at the conference. The conference is in Lindsborg, Kansas, July 19-21. You can register by clicking here.KWAA is offering transportation to and from KC and 12 hours of Missouri and Kansas CLE credit. You won't want to miss the keynote speech by Maya Harris or the many wonderful CLE offerings! NCWBA Women's Bar Leadership Summit
AWL is an affiliate member of the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations (NCWBA). The next Women's Bar Leadership Summit will be held in Chicago on Thursday, August 2, and Friday, August 3, in conjunction with the ABA Annual Meeting. It is great event with fabulous take-aways. Beginning June 25,
all Kansas-licensed attorneys who are permitted to practice law under Supreme Court Rule 208(a) must electronically file documents in cases before any state court. Click here to see the official notice from the Office of Judicial Administration.

This Month in History
1903: Marie Curie defends her doctoral thesis on radioactive substances at Université de la Sorbonne in Paris, becoming the first woman in France to receive a doctoral degree.
1949: Georgia Neese Clark confirmed as the first woman treasurer of the United States.
1963:Equal Pay Act enacted: "To prohibit discrimination on account of sex in the payment of wages by employers engaged in commerce or in the production of goods for commerce." (PL 88-38)
1972:Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is signed by President Nixon. This legislation guarantees equal access and equal opportunity for female and male students in almost all aspects of our educational systems.
