FREE TICKETS FOR "THE HIDING PLACE"

The Outreach Team is providing 30 tickets to the Saturday, August 5, 2:00 PM showing of The Hiding Place at the AMC Summit. This is the story of Corrie Ten Boom’s family who during WW2 took in hundreds of Jewish people at great risk to their own lives. The goal is to invite someone to attend with you who may not yet know Christ. E-mail Michael at michael@avpc.org if you would like tickets. If you would like to know more information about the movie you can find it by following THIS LINK.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGS

The Session is calling for two congregational meetings to address the election of a Pastoral Search Committee. The first meeting will be on Sunday, August 6, at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary and will include three items of business: the composition of the search committee, how nominations will be made, and a change to our church by-laws. More details on these three items can also be found by following THIS LINK. The second meeting will be on Sunday, August 20, during the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45) for the purpose of electing the search committee.

NEW AVPC CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

We are delighted to welcome Anna Waldrip as our new Church Administrator. We are thanking God for his provision of Anna to our staff. She will begin working on Monday, August 21.

VOICES OF THE VALLEY

The final meeting of Voices of the Valley will be Monday, August 7 from 6:30 - 7:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Following the summer preaching series, “Fruit of the Spirit”, each month, a Voice (man) of the Valley (our church) will share how God has been working a particular fruit in his life. See you there!

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

AVPC is searching for part-time workers in the infant and toddler rooms on Wednesday mornings and Sunday mornings and evenings. You must be 14 years old to apply. Contact Alli Campbell at aczc@bellsouth.net or Catie Lumpkin at catie@avpc.org for more information.

TEMPORARY KITCHEN COORDINATOR

Our current kitchen coordinator will be unable to serve this fall, and we are looking for someone to fill this position temporarily. Responsibilities involve planning and serving about eight of our Sunday night fellowship suppers. Pay is $16 per hour, requiring about 8-10 hours per week when there is a fellowship supper. If interested, please contact Connor in the church office (connor@avpc.org).

MISSIONS TEAM REPORT - AUGUST 20

Sunday, August 20, we are blessed to have the Summer Missions Team Reports. This is a great opportunity to hear from missionaries in our church family share how the Lord has used them during the various mission trips this year. There will be a church wide supper and sharing from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. Our youth will share about their third trip to the Yakama people in White Swan, WA with Sacred Road Ministries. Christina Thomas and Brent McClenny will share about their mission trip with Christian Medical Ministry of Alabama in the Dominican Republic. And finally, Michael McCaughelty will share about his recent mission trip to Southall, London where he partnered with members of Serge to serve South Asian immigrants who live in London. Come share the joy!
