OFFICER NOMINATIONS

AVPC members may submit names of men they believe meet the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 for the offices of Elder and Deacon. Guidelines and nomination forms can be found in the Parlor and Welcome Center, or on the church website, HERE. You can drop your printed nomination form in the offering plate or turn it in to the church office. Call the church office if you have any questions. 

COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE

This Sunday, July 9, we are hosting a blood drive through Lifesouth Community Bloodcenters. The bus from Lifesouth will be in Altadena Park from 12:45-7:00 PM. No appointment is necessary, but you may schedule a time through the Lifesouth’s website HERE.  

WACK: JULY 10-13

Please pray for W.A.C.K. (Worship Arts Camp for Kids), which begins next week. Pray for the volunteers, teachers, and students who will be learning how to glorify God with their many talents and gifts. If you are able, please join us on Thursday, July 13 at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Hall for a closing performance. There, the students will show us all they have learned this week.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

AVPC is seeking a full-time Church Administrator. We desire to hire someone who is a gifted administrator, a mature Christian, and someone able to lead the AVPC administrative staff. Candidates must be either a current member of AVPC or willing to become a member upon being hired. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - NURSERY WORKER

AVPC Kids Nursery is hiring workers for our infant and toddler rooms. We are needing people to serve on Wednesday mornings and Sunday mornings and evenings. PRAYER SERVICE - JULY 16

On Sunday, July 16, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM, the Prayer Ministry Team will be hosting a corporate time of prayer for any of our faith family. Prayer prompts will be available with an emphasis on the Pastoral transition process. Ice cream will be served following the prayer time.

MEMBERSHIP WEEKEND - JULY 21

Are you thinking about church membership at Altadena? Come to our next Membership Event, Friday, July 21 from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Dinner is provided. Attendance at this or another weekend offered throughout the year is required for church membership. Visit the church website HERE or call the church office to register and request childcare. The deadline to register is July 17.

PASTORAL SEARCH COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS

The congregation will elect members for the Pastoral Search Committee in a congregational meeting on August 20 during the Sunday School hour. To nominate someone for this committee, email (psc@avpc.org), with “PSC Nomination” in the Subject Line, and include the names of your nominees in the body of the email. You may also fill out a form found in the Parlor and Welcome Center. The deadline to submit a nomination is July 23.

BABY SHOWER

The women of AVPC are hosting a baby shower to honor Angie Klose, on July 31, at 7:00 PM, at the home of Laura Gray, 1416 Buckhead Road, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216. If you would like to contribute towards a cash gift, you may contribute online thru CCB, with THIS LINK, or in the collection envelope in your Sunday school class. Please designate ‘baby shower’ in the memo line of your check. The deadline to donate is Sunday, July 31.

WOMEN'S LUNCHEON

We will have our Summer Women’s Small Group Luncheon on Sunday, July 23rd, immediately following the late service. We will gather in groups of 6-8. BOILER ROOM PRAYER

Did you know there are church members who gather together each week to pray for you every time you worship at AVPC? Would you like to take part in this powerful prayer ministry? Come and join us for a prayer session during the late service in the Conference Room on Sunday, July 30. No obligation to sign up. No requirement to pray out loud before others. It is just an opportunity to seek the favor of the Lord for our brothers and sisters in Christ worshiping just next door. VOICES OF THE VALLEY

The second meeting of Voices of the Valley will be on July 17 from 6:30 - 7:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall. Following the summer preaching series, “Fruit of the Spirit”, each month, a Voice (man) of the Valley (our church) will share how God has been working a particular fruit in his life. If you feel that God has been working a particular fruit in your life and are open to share for an upcoming Voices of the Valley, contact Blake Harris at blake@avpc.org. 

FRIENDSHIP PARTNERS

The mission field is here with the arrival each semester of international students to UAB, some never knowing a Christian. Friendship Partners seek to love these students through monthly interactions. If you are interested in ministering to these students and becoming a Friendship Partner for the fall semester, register by the first of August and attend a brief orientation, if you have not already done so. CHILDREN'S CHURCH

During June and July, Children’s Church will only be available during the early service. For our summer Worship Center schedule, children ages 4-6 will be dismissed after the Pastoral Prayer to the Worship Center in Room L-1 of the Education Building. Parents can pick up their children after Sunday School (no later than 10:50 AM). Children’s Church will resume for both services in August.

SUMMER COLLEGE NIGHTS

Summer college Bible study has begun. We will be meeting on Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at the home of Blake and Danielle Harris. This is for anyone ages 18-22 and dinner will be provided. Come enjoy a great time of food, Bible study, and fellowship!

WOMEN’S SUMMER BIBLE STUDY

Please join your AVPC sisters as we study through the book, “The Fruit of the Spirit”. We are offering studies on Monday at 3:00 PM at the home of Nancy Klose, Wednesday mornings at 9:00 AM in the Church Parlor, and Wednesday night at 6:00 PM at the home of Lea Anne Parker. The Wednesday night group will continue the study of Mark from last semester. Study books for “The Fruit of the Spirit” are available in the Parlor for a cost of $10.00. Questions? MISSIONS NEWS

OUR MISSION OF THE WEEK is the Alabama Church Planting Network (ACPN). ACPN partners with three Alabama PCA presbyteries as well as churches from other groups to establish new churches around our state. They are currently involved with 12 mission churches. Jeph Guinan is the Director.
