WOMEN'S LUNCHEON

We will have our Summer Women’s Small Group Luncheon this Sunday, July 23 immediately following the late service. We will gather in groups of 6-8. PASTORAL SEARCH COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS

To nominate someone for the Pastoral Search Committee, email (psc@avpc.org), with “PSC Nomination” in the Subject Line, and include the names of your nominees in the body of the email. You may also fill out a form found in the Parlor and Welcome Center. The deadline to submit a nomination is this Sunday, July 23.

BOILER ROOM PRAYER

Did you know there are church members who gather together each week to pray for you every time you worship at AVPC? Would you like to take part in this powerful prayer ministry? Come and join us for a prayer session during the late service in the Conference Room on Sunday, July 30. No obligation to sign up. No requirement to pray out loud before others. It is just an opportunity to seek the favor of the Lord for our brothers and sisters in Christ worshiping just next door. URBAN HOPE SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Urban Hope Community Church is gathering school supplies to serve students in the Fairfield City school system. Items can be dropped off in one of the gray tubs in the Parlor or Welcome Center. BABY SHOWER

The women of AVPC are hosting a baby shower to honor Angie Klose, on July 31, at 7:00 PM, at the home of Laura Gray, 1416 Buckhead Road, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216. You can contribute online thru CCB, with THIS LINK, or in the collection envelope in your Sunday school class. Please designate ‘baby shower’ in the memo line of your check. The deadline to donate is Sunday, July 30.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

AVPC has several employment opportunities: (1) Church Administrator - Searching for a full-time gifted administrator and mature Christian who is able to lead the AVPC administrative staff. Candidates must be either a current member of AVPC or willing to become a member upon being hired. Submit applications by July 31 to Nancy Klose via email (nancy@avpc.org) or to the church office, either hand-delivered or mailed. (2) Nursery Workers - Searching for part-time workers in the infant and toddler rooms on Wednesday mornings and Sunday mornings and evenings. OFFICER NOMINATIONS

AVPC members may submit names of men they believe meet the qualifications set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 for the offices of Elder and Deacon. Guidelines and nomination forms can be found in the Parlor and Welcome Center, or on the church website, HERE. You can drop your printed nomination form in the offering plate or turn it in to the church office. Call the church office if you have any questions. 

CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGS

The Session is calling for two congregational meetings to address the election of a Pastoral Search Committee. The first meeting will be on Sunday, August 6 at 6:00 PM in the sanctuary and will include three items of business: the composition of the search committee, how nominations will be made, and a change to our church by-laws. More details on these three items can also be found by following THIS LINK. The second meeting will be on Sunday, August 20 during the Sunday School hour (9:45-10:45) for the purpose of electing the search committee. 

FRIENDSHIP PARTNERS

The mission field is here with the arrival each semester of international students to UAB, some never knowing a Christian. Friendship Partners seek to love these students through monthly interactions. If you are interested in ministering to these students and becoming a Friendship Partner for the fall semester, register by the first of August and attend a brief orientation, if you have not already done so. CHILDREN'S CHURCH

During June and July, Children’s Church will only be available during the early service. For our summer Worship Center schedule, children ages 4-6 will be dismissed after the Pastoral Prayer to the Worship Center in Room L-1 of the Education Building. Parents can pick up their children after Sunday School (no later than 10:50 AM). Children’s Church will resume for both services in August.

OUR MISSIONARIES OF THE WEEK Keith and Lois Betsch who serve stateside in North Carolina with Wycliffe/JAARS. Keith currently serves as the Broader Pacific Senior Field Coordinator, and Lois serves in the clinic at JAARS.
