Sara: "Here in Philadelphia, we continue to see intense demand for plug-and-play life science lab space. To fill that need, we recently expanded Brandywine's life sciences incubator, B+labs, adding 27,000 SF of graduate lab space that’s now 100% leased.
Outside the lab in the heart of our innovation district Schuylkill Yards, we’re excited to have kicked off our “Square Season” experiential programming to foster community and connection in Philadelphia’s “Second Skyline.”

Kate Engel Named Executive Director of the

AURP Board Member, Kate Engel, an experienced leader in university-based research campus operations, has been named executive director of the Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Kate assumes the permanent role after serving one year as interim executive director. She succeeds founding executive director Dan Duncan (and AURP Past President and Board Member), who retired in April 2023. Read more. | |

This 140,000-sf build-to-suit project marks a significant milestone in technological advancement and collaboration. The West Virginia Regional Technology Park team joined state leaders last month in celebration to break ground for the new West Virginia State Laboratories facility to be situated at the Tech Park in South Charleston, West Virginia. The groundbreaking marks a significant milestone in the State’s advancement of innovation, science and technology for West Virginia. The Tech Park, home to over 28 businesses and 1,000 jobs, aims to grow West Virginia's economy by nurturing research, innovation, technological advancement and education. Read more. | |

Asphalt on a path in Ames, IA contains a soybean-derived additive developed by SoyLei Innovations, a company founded by Nacu Hernandez (photo) that recently moved into office and lab space in the Iowa State University Research Park just a short drive north of the asphalt path. The soybean-treated surface is made of 100% recycled material. Applying the soybean additive to old asphalt means it can be reused, cutting down on its carbon footprint and saving money through improved efficiency. At the Research Park, innovative ideas like SoyLei’s additive take shape and hit the market, creating jobs. Read more. | |

Robert “Bob” Burgess, 79, a distinguished 1966 Michigan State University alumnus, esteemed business leader, and dedicated philanthropist, provided mentorship by giving his time, expertise and service on boards of directors associated with the university, including serving as the chair of the MSU Research Foundation’s Board of Directors. Timothy Joel Sim, Jr., 44, who served as Director of Operations for Real Estate Administration at the University of Utah (host of AURP's 2021 International Conference, passed away last month surrounded by his beloved family. As noted by the University of Utah Real Estate Administration team, "Joel will be dearly missed, and his legacy will continue to inspire us." Read more. | | |
