When Banned Books Week was first celebrated back in 1982, ASJA was one of its founders. We launched it with a read-in of banned books on the steps of the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue.
This year, ASJA joins with other sponsors of Banned Books Week -- American Library Association, the American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, and the Association of American Publishers -- in inviting writers and readers to participate in an online read-in of banned books via a specially dedicated channel of YouTube.
