President's Message
Dear ASCLD Colleagues,

Did you know that we have an ASCLD Forum? It is on the Member Site area of our website. You can create a post on a topic and share ideas and information with other members. Last week we had two new posts from colleagues looking for information about how others are decontaminating laboratories in the current COVID-19 pandemic and another about expanding laboratory services. Take a look at these posts and other topics and maybe start a thread of your own.

As part of our continuing effort to continue to stay connected while most of us are working remotely, as well as to have a little fun, we are starting a new initiative and we need your participation starting this week!

We are asking ASCLD members to take a picture in response to a set theme. Photos submitted for each week’s theme will be tagged and a winner(s) of the best image of the week will be highlighted in the next CLM for everyone to enjoy.

Participation is, of course, voluntary, but I encourage everyone to send in a photo and to check out what our colleagues are sharing. This week, we are asking folks to take a photo in your favorite mask! Here is how you can participate this week:

First, take an image of yourself in your favorite mask, post it to your social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), and tag ASCLD and use #ASCLDFun. Tags for your social media platform are (Instagram- @_ascld_, Twitter - @ascld_ ,or FB - @ascld.org). Please note: tagging ASCLD is important for your photo/post. If you don’t and you happen to have your account set to private, we will not be able to see what you have posted. Remember, the best photo tagged this week will be featured in the next CLM. Let’s have some fun!

Be well,

Erin

It is with much excitement we announce that our ASCLD Executive Director John A. Byrd has updated his email address to ExecutiveDirector@ASCLD.org. This is a much needed change as the new email is more indicative and provides clarity of the title and position within it’s address. Members, we respectfully ask that you update your email contact list with this new and exciting change.

ASCLD Emerging Issues: Employee Webinar Series (Archived)

Providing training and education to our membership is a core mission for ASCLD. Despite the unfortunate cancellation of our annual symposium this year, the Symposium Planning and Training and Education Committees found a way to bring timely and relevant content that would have been experienced in Denver, to the ASCLD membership.
Through a generous partnership with the Forensic Technology Center of Excellence at RTI International, ASCLD presented a three-part webinar series entitled ASCLD Emerging Issues: Employee Wellness. Providing training and education in employee wellness is part of the current ASCLD Strategic Plan. In an already stressful profession, as we adapt and lead through the COVID-19 pandemic, this topic is particularly timely.

In June 2020, ASCLD Emerging Issues: Employee Wellness presented the following webinars:

Speakers: Andrew Levin, Jonathan McGrath, Heidi Putney, & Danielle Crimmins

Speaker: Jody Wolf

Speaker: Robert Kirkby
