I trust everyone enjoyed the Holidays and are ready to start this New Year!
Our January meeting is set. On the 21st, AECOM will provide an up to date discussion of the
SUM-76-10.00 Main/Broadway Interchange Reconstruction.
The program location will be at Quaker Station ballroom at the University of Akron. Invite your construction Contractor Buddies to share a dinner and program as this project will be nearing a sale date with ODOT.
For our December meeting, we utilized a service called Eventbrite, an online service for registration-attendance-payment for any type of event our section organizes. This process seemed to serve us quite well.
A grateful Thank You goes to the folks from the City of Akron who provided a panel discussion of the on-going, Akron Waterways Renewed project at Greystone Hall. We enjoyed a successful event with 75 in attendance. We also thank our meeting sponsors, ADS, HDR, H. R. Gray and PS Construction Fabrics, who have made financial contributions to ease the cost of the event to our membership.
February is E-Week and next month there will be additional information available.
I take pride in passing along some good news from our Younger Member group of our ASCE Section. The Younger Members won $1,000.00 for the 2016 Small Team Younger Member Renewal Race. As member Andrew Long stated "WOO-HOO, We won!"
Together, we will all make the best of this New Year!

Akron Public Schools Bridge Competition Judges/Volunteers Wanted
Every year Akron Public Schools (APS) hosts a Science, Math, and Technology Expo and Bridge Competition. Anyone with a background in Science with a desire to inspire and encourage the next generation of health workers, scientists or engineers is encouraged to participate as a judge!
Judges are required to be at North High School on Jan 30th around 7:30, and will be leaving after lunch around 1 or 1:30.
If you are interested the information about the fair, including the registration form for Judge, Volunteer or sponsor a Booth can be found here.
Please select Register for Judging and fill out the form, DO NOT SELECT Sponsored Judges. Sponsored Judges normally have some kind of monetary price from a company/corporation/organization.
