A near perfect fall season as I remember it. Warm temperatures and dry weather have given us a great fall construction season! It has been a beautiful fall for all activities, just another item to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. I sincerely hope all of our ASCE members and the Students of the University of Akron Chapter enjoyed their friends and families this recent Thanksgiving.
December 17th, we will host a luncheon and Panel Discussion "Akron Waterways Renewed! Gray, Green and Jobs". The mission of the Akron Waterways Renewed is to invest in Akron's environmental future by building infrastructure for the next century that will protect health and maintain water of the highest quality in the most cost effective manner while providing local jobs. The AWR Program Manager, Patrick Gsellman will be the moderator. This program will be one of interest to our contracting community as well. Invite your construction Contractor Buddies to share a lunch and program as this monumental planning, designing and constructing program continues to develop.
For our December meeting, we will be utilizing a service called Eventbrite, an online service for registration-attendance-payment for any type of event our section organizes. See more in the body of the Newsletter.
A grateful Thank You goes to the ASCE Cleveland Section for hosting the November meeting on the 12th at the Tavern of Richfield. I was out of town for the event but was informed that both the meal and the program were good.
Last week we had a planning meeting for upcoming monthly meetings for our section. Some great ideas developed and with cooperation from proposed speakers we will be in position for some exceptional programs. Any suggestions to make them the "Best They Can Be" are welcome.
LAST MONTH
: "I have renewed.....Have you? The Renewal Race is ON !! ASCE National is again encouraging members to renew early and help the Section possibly win $1,000. See the notice in this newsletter!" THIS MONTH: "For sections of our size, we are in the lead to win! Watch for an email blast from ASCE National to urge us to continue the pace we have set. The prize will be a nice benefit to our section!"
Finally, I sincerely wish everyone and their families a Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
