Webinar: What you need to know about new physician assistant law

Register for a CMS webinar that will outline what physicians need to know about a new physician assistant law that took effect in August 2023. The webinar, All the Things You Need to Know About the New Physician Assistant Regulations, will be held Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 12 p.m. with speakers Jean Martin, MD, JD, COPIC Deputy General Counsel, and John Conklin, JD, CMS-contracted general counsel. It will be recorded and distributed to registrants after the event. Submit questions in advance through the registration form!

Free naloxone for rural and high-volume clinics


The Colorado Naloxone Project has earmarked 6,000 free naloxone kits for rural health clinics and high-volume clinics for distribution to patients at risk of opioid overdose. If you are interested in receiving kits for your clinic, please follow this link and fill out the survey.

Application deadline extended: Making Care Primary model


The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has extended the application deadline for its new Making Care Primary (MCP) Model by two weeks; the new deadline for application submission is Thursday, Dec.14 at 11:59 p.m. EST. The MCP application is non-binding and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.


MCP will launch July 1, 2024, in eight states including Colorado. The model aims to improve outcomes and reduce costs through enhanced care management and better coordination with non-primary care specialists and other health professionals.

Nomination period open for 2024 CMS leadership election


Have you thought about a leadership role in the Colorado Medical Society? We encourage members of all walks of life, perspectives, backgrounds, practice settings, career stages and geographic locations to consider a leadership position now or in the future. The nomination period for the 2024 election -- during which CMS members elect the president-elect and members of the Colorado delegation to the American Medical Association -- is open through Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024.
