Public health emergency unwind: What are the impacts on your patients and practice?

The Colorado Medical Society asks members to complete a brief survey to share how you and your patients have been impacted by the ending of the public health emergency, which established continuous coverage for Medicaid enrollees from 2020 through May 2023. As you may know from CMS publications and other news sources, Medicaid began redetermining an individual's eligibility for Medicaid earlier this spring and disenrolling members if their eligibility status changed. Your response is important.

Continue to help patients with Medicaid through the renewal process

To help Keep Coloradans Covered, the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing needs physicians and practices to please continue to use their prepared toolkits, available in the top 11 languages used by Medicaid beneficiaries, to help people complete the renewal process or transition to other affordable health coverage: Update Your AddressUnderstanding the Renewal Process and Take Action on Your Renewal.

There is still time to make Medicare changes during 1/1-3/31

Network changes are a given with Medicare Advantage. Unfortunately, one major network change happened half way through the Annual Enrollment Period. Advent Health will not be in Humana’s Medicare Advantage network for 2024. If your patients find themselves in a situation when they need to switch to continue care with a certain physician or facility, they can use the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period that runs every year from Jan. 1 to March 31. Read more here from CMS sponsor Mary Jo Heins.
