ARNOVA staff will be Out of Office

ARNOVA will be closed for the holidays from Thursday, December 22 through Monday, January 2 and will resume operations on Tuesday, January 3. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season and new year!

A message from the President

Dear ARNOVANs,

As those of you could attend already know, we just completed a very successful conference – our 51st for the association and our second hybrid gathering following the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope you will join me in thanking David Campbell and Christina Balboa – our conference co-chairs, along with all those who volunteered by reviewing papers, creating panels, assisting with the event, and more – for making the conference so enriching and rewarding. Thanks to those ARNOVA members who presented your research and thanks to those of you who provided constructive feedback to presenters. Our opening plenary speakers, Lizzy Hazeltine, Paola Jaramillo, Ayan Mittra, and Erica Beshears Perel, discussed the critical role of nonprofit journalism for ensuring the vitality of democracy. I know I am not alone in expressing my gratitude to our incredible staff, who, with Lynnette’s leadership, played a huge role in ensuring the conference’s success. Finally, a huge thanks to Pier Rogers, our outgoing president, who led ARNOVA successfully through such a difficult and challenging few years. As your new president, I will do my best to ensure ARNOVA’s continued vitality and relevance. I look forward to working with you to that end.

Meet Your New Board

For those of you who were able to join us in Raleigh for the conference, we know that time was limited, days were long, and there were literally hundreds of friendly, smart people with whom you hoped to connect. That means that not everyone was awake and "meeting ready" at 7:30 am Friday morning for our annual meeting. And, because of COVID and myriad other reasons, nearly half of you weren't able to join us in Raleigh at all.

The information shared at our annual meeting, however, is important and we want all of our members to be informed on our finances, operations, and other critical details. We've included a transcript of the meeting for your review; staff and Board leadership are ready to answer any questions you have; feel free to contact our Executive Director at lynnette@arnova.org, our Board President at President@arnova.org, or for more general questions, feel free to reach out to info@arnova.org.

The ARNOVA community continues to expand and soar to new heights, with growing opportunities for members old and new, and it's all thanks to you.

Your continued donations support:

  • inviting new undergraduate members who are just beginning to explore the world of nonprofit research
  • bringing back underrepresented scholars whose voices are vital to our community
  • building on the experience of emerging scholars through mentorship and professional development

Thanks to all those ARNOVAns who supported our "ARNOVAns building ARNOVA" campaign. Supporters were invited to sign and stick a puzzle piece representing a brick on a symbolic wall in Raleigh. Consider making a donation for next year's programs.
