So what’s an Arizona state of mind? Well, take the heat for example. It’s summer everywhere and it’s hot everywhere, we can usually say it’s not too bad because it’s dry heat (who are we kidding, right? 110 and above is hot, dry or humid!). But we know with certainty that it will get better, breezier and cooler pretty soon. Then we turn our minds to the inside activities we have in the area. Like our Rusty Barn Show, coming up at the end of the month. It’s at WestWorld in Scottsdale Aug. 29-31, and the entire show is in one building as opposed to the January show where there are two building venues. So once you enter the building, there’s no reason to rush back out into the heat; there are tables you can sit/rest at, lunch you can order, classes you can take. And oh-so-much-wonderful-stuff you can see and purchase!!! The show runs 10 to 5 Thursday and Friday, 10 to 4 on Saturday. The space is larger so crowds aren’t much of a problem, but there are a lot of vendors there. | |
Of course, the one you don’t want to miss is the Sun Valley Quilts booth area!!! Booths 708-712 - same location as previous years! We are there with the Q’nique longarm machines and frames, made by Grace Co. out of Salt Lake City. These are wonderful machines, AND they are wonderfully priced, especially for the hobbyist long armer. Know that Grace Co. will be at the show, in our booths to show, sell and answer questions about the products and which sizes and prices will best suit your wants and needs. We will, of course, be fully staffed there also, and if you choose to come into the shop, you’re welcome to shop with us there also. Once you pay once, they’ll stamp your hand so you can come back in the next 2 days at no extra show charge. FYI: a handy tip is to bring your room measurements with you!!! We will be selling by orders and can ship directly to your home, but we will also be able to sell right off the floor at the show which can often get you a bit better price. Don’t lose this opportunity to save and still get a full warranty. We do not rent space on our floor models nor let anyone test, say, an entire quilt on our showroom models, so they are not typical used machines at all. Take advantage of the prices and deals while you can! We’ll be waiting to talk with you. If you’re not buying, that’s ok to stop and talk, maybe learn something new! Hope to see you. Our Shop Hop passports are now on sale!!! You have from now until the Hop begins on October 11-19 to purchase your passport for $10.00. There are 9 shops on our Phoenix Area Quilt Shop Association Hop, and you have 9 days to visit each of our participating shops, watch a demo of a new or unique or helpful product, grab some snacks, get a free row pattern from our association’s custom quilt pattern. Each shop you visit will give you a row’s instructions for completing the entire quilt if you so choose. Then please take some time to shop in our stores, because we each have a different style and flavor. I love Shop Hop, doing the demos, talking with all of you, showing you something that I believe will make your projects easier and better! | |
We have free maps of the participating shops, store hours, etc. when you get your passport, so you can get your route planned, gather your friends together for carpooling, talking your bestie into going with you, or come by yourself and stay as long as you want! Plan a lunch out, make a few fun days out of the event, relax and have fun!!! If you can’t attend all of the shops, come to the ones you can, leave your passport with the last shop you visit, and you can still be entered in the free drawing for some AMAZING PRIZES. Each shop will be drawing from the total number of passports turned in, and each shop will be gifting a LARGE gift basket of sewing goodies, valued at over $300 each, plus a chance to win one of two $50 gift certificates. For those who attend and get stamped at all 9 shops, you will be entered into the drawing for our GRAND PRIZES: a BERNINA sewing machine, a $100 gift certificate you can spend at your choice of our association shops, or an even larger gift basket valued at approximately $600!!!!! That Arizona state of mind is active and productive, able to shift gears quickly, can adapt to changes or to no changes at all during those long, sunny days. It stays involved and relevant (most of the time!), sometimes forgets names but never forgets how to make or adapt a pattern, loves to contribute in some way, shape or form. In other words, it’s US!!! All of us, in Arizona or elsewhere; we adapt to our circumstances, offer a helping hand, are ready to offer a smile or support or a “Hot damn” or an “Atta Girl, way to go”! We know that state of mind well, and we’re proud to show it and share it!!! | |
