Welcome to the Spring 2023 Semester!

We Are A Mask-Friendly Campus

Masks are strongly encouraged but not required at American River College and all Los Rios district facilities. Los Rios supports any student or employee's choice to continue wearing a mask if it makes them more comfortable.

ARC Strategic Planning Community Forums

Your voice is needed in ARC’s Strategic Planning process. ARC is engaging in a new cycle of Strategic Planning during the 2022-23 academic year. During the Fall 2022 semester, we reaffirmed our Strategic Goals for 2023-2030. In January and early February, the Office of Equity, Institutional Effectiveness, and Innovation is holding community forums to gather community input to identify focus strategies our College will use to make progress toward achieving our Strategic Goals over the next seven years. Using community input, our 2023-2030 Strategic Plan will be finalized and vetted through our governance process this semester.

During the community forums, participants will:

  • review recent history of ARC strategic planning centered on equity;
  • review the performance metrics we will use to measure progress toward our goals;
  • provide input on focus strategies to achieve our goals

All members of the ARC community are invited to participate in these important forums. We hope you join us in these discussions!

Facilitated by: Dr. BJ Snowden, AVP of Equity, Institutional Effectiveness, & Innovation, and Jen Laflam, Dean of Institutional Effectiveness & Innovation

Flex credit: 1.5 hours

Celebrating Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year will be celebrated on Sunday, January 22 this year. This is a holiday observed by many Asian cultures as a way to celebrate the beginning of a new year, based on the Lunar calendar as opposed to the Gregorian calendar. Although each culture celebrates a little differently, each year is assigned to a different animal from the Chinese Zodiac - 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit!

Tech Tips for Employees and Students

Service Central: Students and employees can request IT services or get support for any IT issue through the online Service Central portal. This includes submitting a request for computer support, software (such as Microsoft Word), hardware (such as a Chromebook), or access to tools and systems (for example, Canvas). In this centralized online system, you’ll be able to track your requests online and ultimately receive faster responses from the IT team.

Canvas: Online and in-person classes both use the Canvas learning system. If you are new to Canvas, check out our Los Rios Canvas "how to" videos to get started or visit the Canvas Getting Started Guide

Apps and Software for Students: Check out the Technology Resources webpage for instructions on how to download software like Microsoft and SacRT’s Zip Pass, plus find information about low-cost or free internet and wi-fi.
