Apply for CCCCO Women’s Equity Empowerment Certificate Program

The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has partnered with the Dr. Yasmin Davidds Institute to offer classified employees, faculty, and administrators with a virtual professional development opportunity to learn the skills, knowledge, and ability to lead in the California Community College system. Participants will engage in activities designed around five core pillars (self-advocacy, self-leadership, well-being, empowerment, and influence) that support employee and student success. Apply online and reserve your seat today!

Racial Justice Book Circle

You are invited to join Folsom Lake College’s Fall 2023 Racial Justice Book Circle as we read and discuss Michelle Alexander’s book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. With dazzling candor, legal scholar Alexander argues that "we have not ended racial caste in America; we have merely redesigned it." This iconic bestseller was named “one of the most influential books of the past 20 years,” according to the Chronicle of Higher Education.

To accompany the book read, join your colleagues on Wednesdays from 12:00 to 1:00 pm via Zoom, starting Wednesday, September 13, to review and discuss the concepts addressed. All Los Rios employees are welcome to participate! We also encourage you to support Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC)-owned businesses and authors by shopping at these local Black-owned bookstores – Underground Books or Carol’s Books. Several e-copies of the book are also available via the Los Rios Libraries. We hope you will join us as we continue our district's commitment to cultivating a culture of anti-racism on our campuses!

Thank You on post-it notes

Ice Cream!

Thanks to so many of you, ARC has the highest employee giving in the District! The ARC Office of Philanthropy would like to thank employee donors for your generous support of fundraising priorities from Beaver Cares to the ARC Fund and many other needs in between.

If you are an employee donor or would like to become one, come grab a Gunther’s ice cream cone and say hello to our new college president, Lisa Cardoza, on Wednesday, August 30 from 11:30 am until 1:30 pm (or until the ice cream is gone) in the ARC Operations Courtyard.
