Dear Members,
I hope you have an amazing spring so far and are actively planning some vacations and time off to recharge. We are currently turning most of our attention to the upcoming golf tournament, our biggest non-dues fundraiser for our association. We have various ways that you can participate! Whether it’s bringing together a foursome to play, buying a tee sign, recruiting a vendor/sponsor, or joining us after the tournament play for some food and beverages, we would love to see you! The event is June 27th at Keney Park, a beautiful park is near by and it’s a great golf course.
We are also keeping our eye on the legislation. Our Public Policy Committee is actively drafting some memos for membership including an update on PT Compact, and CONNIE. We are also continuously working with the company of QPR to assist with a Physical Therapist/Assistant geared educational module on mental health and suicide prevention. I know that there are many schools and institutions that are already offering some training!
Leadership Congress is rapidly approaching, where we will have the House of Delegates. Voting for new Leadership for APTA will occur in early July. Please take a look at the candidates and let us know if there are any particular ones that you feel would best represent and grow the profession. All interviews have already occurred, but you can connect with any of your delegates to get more specifics and make recommendations!
Our next Board of Directors meeting in June will be in person at Quinnipiac. If you’re available, please attend. We would love to meet people in person and hear your voices for what you feel the board should be addressing.
Our Practice Committee has been working on updating some information about the new Guide for Physical therapy. Please be on the look out for that!
We also welcome Dr. Rachel Pata, our newest board of director who was appointed to the vacancy. More information on Dr. Pata and her involvement can be found on our website. We also will recognize Stephanie Weyrauch, our current Vice President, prior to her moving to Montana in August. If you have any stories or recognition that you would like to share regarding Dr. Weyrauch’s impact on our profession and our state please send them to me by the middle of June. We will recognize her at our June BOD meeting.
As always, thank you for your attention and your membership!
Sincerely,
Stefanie Bourassa President, APTA CT
