Say Hello to the Newest (and Most Adorable) Member of the Archives Partnership Trust Family!


We are thrilled to introduce Archie the Trust's Jr! Archivist.


He isn't just your ordinary mascot; he's a tiny titan of history, a connoisseur of old documents, and an all-around archival superstar! With his trusty magnifying glass and a heart full of curiosity, Archie is here to make history fun, engaging, and accessible for kids of all ages.


Expect to see Archie popping up at Trust events, sharing tidbits of New York State history, and sprinkling some archives magic wherever he goes. So next time you see our cheerful little keeper of the past, don't forget to give him a wave (or a high-five if you "dig" history!)

Welcome Brian Keough! 


Appointed by the New York State Board of Regents and Commissioner of Education Betty A. Rosa, Brian Keough begins his role State Archivist and Assistant Commissioner for the New York State Archives on August 1.


Since 2001, he has led the M.E. Grenander Special Collections, Archives, & Preservation at the University at Albany. His work has included overseeing the vital New York Modern Political Archive and the National Death Penalty Archive, providing resources for researchers nationwide.


Brian also maintained the University at Albany Archives and curated a collection of over 200,000 rare and specialized books dating from 1507 to 1950.

Going for Gold: The History of the Empire State Games Coming This August!


Summer heat getting too much? Come see the latest document display at the State Archives. The display will highlight photos, posters, and ephemera from the Empire State Games, one of the first statewide Olympic-style competitions for amateur athletes. The records will be on display throughout the month on the 11th floor of the Cultural Education Center.


Discover the fascinating stories behind the Games and celebrate the athletes who have competed in this prestigious competition.

Joshua Hauck Whealton from State Archives Researcher Services joins this month’s A New York Minute in History podcast on the history of New York’s state and county fairs. He shares insights from his article Farm to Fair in the new issue of the New York Archives  magazine.
