New APS Safety and Security Initiatives

Atlanta Public Schools is committed to the safety and security of our staff and students and are excited to share three initiatives with you.

1. On April 8, 2024, we will go live with the implementation of the Centegix Crisis Alert System. This platform, funded in part by the $50,000 per School Safety and Security Enhancement Grant, will minimize identification, notification, and response time in emergencies. APS will join 60% of school districts using this alert system statewide.

2. We are also pleased to report the anticipated completion of school vestibule construction and upgrade projects in 48 schools, as well as the addition of ballistic film to the glass in 25 existing school vestibules by December 2024. For more information on the completion schedule, please click here.

3. The Visitor Management System is scheduled to go live on April 8, 2024 as well. This system will enhance visitor screenings for those entering APS buildings and facilities.
