CAIR-CT is pleased to offer three paid summer internships from July 1 to August 30 (dates negotiable) for rising high school seniors and college students in the areas of marketing and communications, fundraising, and community organizing.


Each internship will require 35 to 40 hours per week and pay $15/hour. Work will be done mainly remotely with some in-person meetings required from time to time. Interns are expected to have access to their own computers, internet and telephone. They should also have access to a quiet place where they can work without interruption.

Summer Internship: Communications & Marketing Intern

Location: Remote with occasional in person

Duration: 8 weeks, starting July 1, 2024 (negotiable)


About CAIR-CT: The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Connecticut (CAIR-CT) is dedicated to enhancing understanding of Islam, protecting civil rights, promoting justice, and empowering American Muslims. Internship Overview: CAIR-CT is seeking a dynamic and motivated Communications Intern for a summer internship. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about civil rights, social justice, and advocacy. The intern will assist with creating and managing communications collateral, social media content, and website updates.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and design various communication materials, including brochures, flyers, and newsletters.
  • Create engaging content for CAIR-CT's social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the CAIR-CT website with fresh and relevant content.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to brainstorm and execute new ideas for outreach and engagement.
  • Monitor social media analytics and track the performance of posts and campaigns.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting CAIR-CT events and initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools.
  • Basic graphic design skills (experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software is a plus).
  • Experience with website management (WordPress experience is preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about civil rights and social justice issues.
