Long Beach’s State of the Port to highlight goals for 2022
February 4, 2022 — Port of Long Beach Executive Director Mario Cordero will declare 2022 as the “Year of Transformation” during his fifth State of the Port address on Wednesday, Feb. 9, with a forecast of cargo trends, infrastructure projects and additional plans in the year ahead.
The annual State of the Port will also take a look back at the challenges and accomplishments of a record-setting 2021, with comments delivered by Cordero, Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, and Long Beach Harbor Commission President Steven Neal.

GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. announces leadership change
February 3, 2022 — GCT Global Container Terminals Inc. (GCT) today announced that Doron Grosman, President and Chief Executive Officer, has tendered his resignation. The Board of Directors has accepted his resignation effective February 25, 2022.
Since joining GCT in 2017, Mr. Grosman has consistently distinguished himself throughout his time at the company. Together with the GCT management team, he has significantly enhanced shareholder value since assuming his role as CEO.

Port of Hueneme receives needed funding as part of State’s recovery efforts
February 3, 2022 – As a result of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s announcement last year that California’s public ports will receive an allocation of funding from the state’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the Port of Hueneme was awarded $2,337,563 in funds to help recover from revenue losses experienced in fiscal year 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The State Lands Commission administered the grant through a competitive process for California Ports and special districts.

Port of Grays Harbor customer AGP announces plans for new soybean processing facility
February 3, 2022 — On Friday, January 28th, Ag Processing Inc (AGP) announced it plans to build a new state-of-the-art soybean processing plant near David City, Nebraska. AGP is the Port of Grays Harbor’s largest marine terminal customer with its storage and export facility at Terminal 2. “The soybean processing industry is experiencing tremendous growth and we believe a facility in East Central Nebraska is strategically located to serve our cooperative members and their farmer-owners. Maintaining a strong cooperative system is vital to agricultural producers and our rural communities,” stated AGP’s Chairman of the Board Lowell Wilson.

Gov. Dunleavy wants to link $175 million in funding for Anchorage and Mat-Su ports

January 31, 2022 — Gov. Mike Dunleavy is proposing a funding injection to shore up Anchorage’s bustling Port of Alaska but linked with the nearly idle port 5 miles across Knik Arm in the governor’s home base of Mat-Su.
The Dunleavy administration is suggesting the Municipality of Anchorage and Matanuska-Susitna Borough look at forming a new regional port authority to decide how to spend $175 million in general obligation bond funds on repairs needed at both.

Around the world with 80 cranes
January 27, 2022 — Liebherr has had a record year with its maritime mobile harbour cranes. The order intake volume in the past year 2021 was higher than ever before. In total, more than 80 new units and also various used units were sold to customers worldwide. Liebherr mobile harbour cranes were ordered from 31 different countries with all continents being represented. There was strong growth in the Middle East and West Africa regions and stable core markets in Europe as well as North and South America. As in previous years, the LHM 550 is the most popular crane, closely followed by the LHM 420. A strong increase in sales of the LHM 800 was recorded, which more than tripled compared to the previous year.

Oxnard Harbor Commissioners vote on 2022 Leadership – Rooney at the Helm
January 27, 2022 — The Oxnard Harbor District/Port of Hueneme Board of Harbor Commissioners named its officers for 2022. Commissioner Mary Anne Rooney was unanimously voted to serve as President. “It is truly an honor to serve as Harbor Commissioner President for a third time,” said Commissioner Rooney. “Along with my fellow Commissioners, we will keep our resolve and steadfast commitment to environmental progress, innovation and our community. We will continue to support our customers and serve as an economic force in the county by creating thousands of jobs and providing over $100 million dollars in tax revenues for our local communities.”

Matson to deliver $375,000 in relief goods and services to Tonga
January 24, 2022 — Matson announced today that it will contribute NZD $375,000 in goods and services toward Tonga disaster relief and has scheduled a special voyage departing Auckland, New Zealand this week with relief goods donated by the company and destined for Tonga. Two additional extra-schedule relief voyages are planned for departure from Auckland during the next three weeks.

Port of Guam Climate Survey shows high morale
January 20, 2022 — An organizational climate survey of Port Authority of Guam employees showed high employee morale, job satisfaction and support for management.
The anonymous organizational climate survey was conducted last month and 92% of all 368 employees took part in the survey. The survey showed that 98% of all employees have a positive work experience at the port. Survey results also showed that 96% feel there is high morale, 92% feel that management is fair and also transparent and 94% feel management is accountable. The survey provided employees an opportunity to anonymously rate different levels of our agency as it assessed what they value most in their employment and provided them an opportunity to make positive suggestions for improvement.
