The 2022 Tech Workshop will be held November 9-11, 2022. Courses and speakers will focus on the most pressing topics facing the industry today. Signature talks will cover deep knowledge of ISO 10110 standards, ITAR, and state-of-the-art optical manufacturing techniques.


The workshop will take place at the historic Hotel Boulderado. Built in 1908, it is one of the most famous and luxurious hotel landmarks in Boulder, Colorado.

MCC to offer Optical Fabrication Essentials Micro-Credential in Fall 2022


The Optical Systems Technology program at Monroe Community College has developed an Optical Fabrication Essentials micro-credential which provides a fast track for individuals wanting to enter into the optics manufacturing industry or advance in their present position. 


The courses required for this micro-credential are part of the Optical Systems Technology AAS degree. Each 4-credit, 90-hour course will be conducted over 4 ½ weeks, 4 days per week, 5 hours per day, beginning September 7 and ending on December 12, 2022. They can complete the three courses in one semester.

AmeriCOM Seeking Industry Responses to RFI for Precision Optics Manufacturing Challenges 


The American Center for Optics Manufacturing (AmeriCOM) Defense Precision Optics Consortium (DPOC) is seeking information from industry and academia to assist with the identification of areas or technologies within precision optics manufacturing that present significant challenges to manufacturers. This information will be used to develop a research and development (R&D) agenda for upcoming funding allocation.


This is a request for information only and responses are not accepted as official proposals. Once identification of needed research areas is complete, proposals will be solicited to address specific needs in a separate effort.

APOMA Members Support Annual WNY Optics/Photonics Golf Tournament


Many thanks to our members for their generosity in supporting the Annual WNY Optics and Photonics Golf Tournament in July 2022! Final numbers are in-- this year’s tournament raised $26,296.25 for the Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY! The event drew 312 golfers and 350 total attendees.


Over its 22 year history, this event has raised a total of $424,899.77!!
