AUDIT FUNDAMENTALS - The first 2 days of training are used to review basic auditing principals applicable to API Q1, API Q2 and ISO 9001:2015.  Discussion items will include API requirements and ISO 19011 guidelines for audit planning, Auditor competencies, qualifications and responsibilities, use of  audit tools, audit types, conducting opening and closing meetings, audit questioning techniques and audit reporting. 

     

LEAD AUDITOR - Day 3 activities are specific to the responsibilities of those leading an audit team or conducting solo audits.  These training activities build on information presented during days 1 and 2, with focus placed on risk based thinking, risk assessment and management, contingency planning, conflict resolution, statistical analysis of QMS data, MOC process requirements, writing effective corrective action requests, audit team selection and audit close-out.

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? This course is suitable for participants with limited to advanced knowledge of quality management system auditing. A basic familiarization of API Q1 or ISO 9001 requirements will be helpful, but isn't required.

Trainer

Bill Aston is an approved API-U and PECB certified trainer.  He has more than 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry.  Bill is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Exemplar Global Certified Principal Auditor and PECB, Certified Lead Auditor. He has served as a subject matter expert for ASQ's Ask the Experts Program since 2008 and has been published in ASQ Quality Progress Magazine on numerous occasions since 2012. In addition to Bill's participation on several API task groups, he is also a voting member of API Quality Subcommittee 18, API Supply Chain Subcommittee 20, US TAG to ISO TC 176, and a member of the ISO 9001 interpretation committee.
