Esperanza Receives Three APEX Awards for Primary Care Excellence
Each year, the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers honors outstanding health center staff, teams or volunteers through the Awards for Primary Care Excellence (APEX Awards). The APEX Awards represent the pinnacle of service, quality, innovation and achievement in primary health care, and are designed to recognize the outstanding efforts of dedicated individuals and teams who work in and/or volunteer for Pennsylvania's health centers. This year, we are honored to announce Esperanza's three 2022 recipients of the following APEX Awards for Primary Care Excellence:

The Career Achievement Award recognizes an individual committed to the health center mission who has risen through the ranks of a health center through their dedication and by obtaining the necessary education, skills, knowledge and abilities to advance within the organization. It is also meant to showcase career achievements, and identify individuals who can serve as an inspiration for others.

On Saturday, October 8th, 2022, our Community Health and Wellness team hosted a Fall Pop-Up Park at Esperanza's lot in Kensington! During this fun-filled event, community members played lawn games, made leaf crowns, received balloon animals, and enjoyed a healthy cooking demonstration from Nourish at NKCDC. We were grateful to see our community enjoying a sunny, fall afternoon filled with music, snacks, games, and crafts!

Earlier this month, staff from all three of Esperanza's sites gathered together for our Annual Fall Staff Retreat! We enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship, worship, outdoor games, and heard testimonies from staff. We focused focused on the theme "He gives strength to the weary" centered around the Book of Isaiah 40:27-31. Thank you to Pastor Gabe Wang-Herrera from By Grace Alone Church in Frankford for hosting us!
