We are excited to announce a webinar that will provide valuable insights into the evolving landscape of geodetic surveying, Reference System Modernization: Canadian plans and timelines.
The first instance of this webinar, presented in French by Catherine Robin, will take place on December 5, 2023 12:00 p.m. EST, while the second instance, presented in English by Brian Donahue, will be held on December 7, 2023 11:30 p.m. EST.
The webinar will delve into the plans for the United States National Geodetic Survey (NGS) to adopt new geometric reference frames and a geoid-based height system in 2025, with the Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) aligning federally with these changes. The presentations will also cover the latest plans and timelines for the release of CGS products and tools leading to federal modernization in 2025, as well as recent efforts towards unified reference frame adoption across jurisdictions, including provincial migration options.
Brian Donahue, with 25 years of experience at the Canadian Geodetic Survey, will lead the English presentation. He currently serves as the team leader of the Geodetic Services Unit and chairs the Canadian Geodetic Reference System Committee (CGRSC), responsible for planning geodetic reference system improvements in Canada.
Catherine Robin, who has been with the Canadian Geodetic Survey (LGC) since 2011, will lead the French presentation. She is currently the Section Leader (Geodetic Analysis and Development) and manages the effort to modernize the national reference framework with LGS, while also leading the work team on the unified reference of the Canadian Geodetic Reference System Committee (CCSRG).
This webinar will present a unique opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the evolving geodetic landscape and its implications for the future, led by experts with extensive experience in the field.
