AOLS AGM 2024: Save the Date for an AI-Infused Keynote by David Usher!

February 28 - March 1

Get ready to mark your calendars! The AOLS Annual General Meeting (AGM) is scheduled for February 28 to March 1, 2024. This year, we're taking things up a notch with our keynote speaker - the multi-talented David Usher!

David Usher isn't just a Juno-winning musician and the charismatic frontman of the internationally acclaimed rock band, Moist. He's also a best-selling author, entrepreneur, and the founder of Reimagine AI, an artificial intelligence creative studio.

But here's the real kicker: David will be focusing his keynote on the intersection of AI and land surveying. He'll delve into how AI is shaping our industry and how we, as surveyors, can not only adapt to this change but also harness it to our advantage. This is a conversation you won't want to miss!

So, are you ready to explore the future of land surveying with us? Join us at the 132nd Annual AGM 2024. It's more than just an event - it's an opportunity to engage, learn, and get a glimpse into the future of our profession.

Stay ahead with AOLS Continuing Professional Development Activities

Find them all at the Members Portal!

The Association of Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS) is dedicated to supporting the ongoing professional growth of its members. A key part of this commitment is our Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, where a listing of them is available through the Members Portal.

Our CPD activities span a wide range of topics, all designed to expand your knowledge and skills in the field. These activities are conveniently organized by year, aiding members in managing their 3 Year CPD Cycle effectively.

Each listed CPD activity provides essential details such as the date, title, and the number of CPD Hours assigned.

For those unable to attend an activity, we offer a link to view the webinar, ensuring that learning opportunities are not missed. However, it's important to note that some activities are exclusively in-person, and recordings may not be available for these sessions.

To access these CPD activities, log into your Member Portal. If you experience any issues accessing your account, please contact us at memberservices@aols.org.

Additionally, members are required to record their CPD Activity on GeoEd.ca. This step is crucial for accurately tracking your CPD hours. If you encounter difficulties accessing your GeoEd.ca account, please reach out to memberservices@aols.org.

At AOLS, we champion continuous learning and professional development. We encourage all members to leverage these CPD activities to enhance their expertise and maintain their edge in the land surveying profession.

We want to address an important matter regarding the privacy and security of our email addresses.

It has come to our attention that there is a need to clarify why we do not publish our email addresses on the AOLS public-facing website. While we understand the convenience of having direct email access, the risks associated with publishing email addresses of our staff publicly far outweigh the benefits. Here are some of the potential risks:

  1. Increased Spam: Publicly accessible email addresses can become targets for spammers, leading to an influx of unsolicited and potentially harmful messages.
  2. Phishing Attacks: Cybercriminals can use these email addresses to launch targeted phishing attacks, attempting to deceive individuals into revealing sensitive information or gaining unauthorized access to our systems.
  3. Identity Theft: Public exposure of email addresses increases the risk of identity theft. Malicious actors can use this information to impersonate staff members and carry out fraudulent activities.

To ensure the privacy and security of our email addresses, we have chosen not to publish them on the website. Instead, we direct members of the association who are looking for staff contact information to the secure section of the Members Portal.

The staff directory can be accessed by logging into the Members Portal using valid membership credentials. Once logged in, members can navigate to the staff directory section using the following URL: https://members.aols.org/splash/my-membership/aols-staff-directory.

This ensures that only authorized members have access to our staff contact information, maintaining the confidentiality and security of our email addresses.

We understand that this may be an adjustment, but we believe it is a necessary step to protect our network. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this matter, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to assist you and ensure the protection of our information.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue and for your cooperation in maintaining the security and privacy of our email addresses.
