Advocate for Child Care!

Thanks to advocates across the country -- including many of you -- Congress recently approved an increase in child care and early education funding for the 2023 fiscal year. This increase includes $1.9 billion in new funding for the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), which supports Care4Kids, child care quality and licensing. As a result, Connecticut will receive an additional $12.8 million. Head Start/Early Head Start will also receive $960 million nationwide.

With a new Congress elected in November, we don't anticipate an increase in federal funding over the next two years. This makes state budget advocacy more important than ever! All Our Kin and Child Care for Connecticut's Future will ask state lawmakers for a substantial increase in compensation for educators next year, and payment based on the true cost of care for years to come.
