In honor of over twenty years of work with and dedication to Child Protective Services of Eula E. Rutherford-Smith, the mother of our very own Executive Director Nikkee E. Espree, the Board of Directors of Giving Texas Children Promise announces the 2014 $1,000 Eula E. Rutherford-Smith Scholarship Award!  This scholarship is open to current or former foster youth in the state of Texas who have completed at least one semester or term of higher education (college/university, trade school or vocational school) or have started a course of study and who will be returning to work towards a college degree, professional license and/or certification.  

 

The ideal applicant will exhibit educational success despite overcoming obstacles or challenges in obtaining higher education.  The Scholarship Recipient will be announced or or before June 13, 2014 to allow time for the student to make or confirm educational plans for the Fall 2014 or Spring 2015 semester.  Scholarship funds will be made payable to the institution where the Applicant is or will be enrolled upon proof of registration.
