Some important news and updates for AMC Choristers:
Rehearsal Plan – Monday, November 14

Hallelujah Chorus - Messiah
Whispering Hope (Commissioned Work)
Review Messiah and all Christmas Pieces

  • Please review your part for the commissioned work "Whispering Hope," We'll perform its world premiere with the Global Academy of Phoenix Children's Choir at our Christmas concert. The score in PDF and full accompaniment and synthesized voice parts in MP3 are available on the AMC website Chorister Information page under the "Here We Come A-Caroling" link.

  • Be prepared to quickly run through all the pieces for December 3 and 4, and Messiah choruses. Have your music in concert order (see the Chorister Info web page) so we can best use the time we have together.
No Rehearsal on Monday, December 5

Due to Scott's surgery in mid-November, rehearsal on Monday, December 5 has been canceled.

  • Rehearsals resume on Monday, January 16 at Ascension Lutheran, at 7:00 PM.

  • Please turn in your paper sheet music to AMC Librarian Cheryl Burton after the concert on December 4.

  • Use the time before resuming rehearsals to begin learning material for the March concert "Chorus & Organ Masterworks."
Chorister Info Updates for December and March

  • The one-page version of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is now posted on the Chorister Info page under the program "Here We Come-A Caroling"

  • Rehearsal tracks for Mendelssohn's "Psalm 42" in March 2023, and a complete but unmarked score are now posted on the Chorister Info page under "Choral & Organ Masterworks." Look for Scott's marked-up score soon.

Messiah Orchestra Rehearsals with the Women's Orchestra of Arizona at Ascension Lutheran

Friday, November 11: Soloists only. Please arrive by 7:15 PM. The orchestra will play transitions into and out of all solo numbers taken in program order. Please let Livia Gho know your preferred tempos if you haven't already done so.

Friday, November 18: All soloists and choristers, starting at 7:00 PM. A run-through and sound check of the whole program so the conductor can hear everyone together.

Messiah SIng-Along Publicity Materials

We have over 130 RSVPs for our Messiah Sing-Along with the Women's Orchestra of Arizona on Sunday, November 20. That's a great start, but we can use more!

A letter-sized flyer in PDF and a couple of banners in JPG graphics format are available for your use at this Dropbox link. Click the link to download a folder containing the art, which you can send to your personal contacts and use on your social media sites (e.g., Facebook and Instagram pages) as you're able.

Be sure to point attendees to theartsatascension.org website for full details. There they can download a PDF vocal score, and RSVP through the event site on Eventbrite at https://messiah-sing-along.eventbrite.com.
