Message from the CEO: If the Institute was making a New Year’s resolution, it would simply be to amplify your voice, and the voices of the whole digital health community, in every way possible. We represent Australia’s largest body of digital health knowledge and experience, with 270 Fellows and Associate Fellows, 2500+ members, 180+ organisational members and 1700+ certified health informaticians. And we believe you are the best ambassadors to drive change! Everything we do at the Institute is designed to further the work of our valued Members, Fellows, and Organisations. This year promises to set a new benchmark for our work in leadership and advocacy. We will be keeping up the momentum gained from digital health advances over the past two years. And there are more avenues for engagement across the health sector as our Expert Advisory Groups set their agendas.
You will hear us speaking out on changing the business models of healthcare, advancing the digital health workforce, building trust and confidence in health and data, and as always, advocating for consumer-centric care safely delivered in a digital world. When you join the Institute, there is a ripple effect of benefits - for you personally and professionally, for your health workplace and ultimately for the broader Australian community. I look forward to working with you, and hearing from you, in 2023.

Industry Spotlight Series Masterclass by
Orion Health

It’s about will not skill: The importance of a growth mindset for successful transformational change.
Virtual masterclass Tuesday 8 Feb 4:00pm AEDT
Moving from paper to a fully digital care record is a mammoth undertaking for any hospital or health service and requires vision, commitment and strong leadership to enable the transformational change needed.
Using a successful example of digital transformation across a network of 16 private surgical hospitals as a credible case study, this masterclass will provide a practical, no-nonsense approach to the key ingredients needed to lead large-scale change in our challenging, complex health system. Although the ‘tech’ is important, not surprisingly, it is the people that make the real difference to success or failure.
Orion Health Clinical Director Carey Campbell will share her recent experience as the clinical lead for a hospital network’s quest for a paperless patient record - the highs, the lows, the learnings and the great fun had on the way!

Institute of Sustainable Leadership,
International Women’s Day scholarship offer
| |
This year, for International Women’s Day on 8 March, the Institute for Sustainable Leadership is offering women and women advocates in the healthcare sector scholarships for their signature course ‘Foundations in Sustainable Leadership’. With a closed group of practitioners in the field, the leadership sessions will consist of self-study of online materials and community live calls to discuss a broader perspective on how to lead better organisations. The fundamental notion is to move away from an individualistic approach and incorporate leadership in our practices that works for a common purpose: the best results for all stakeholders including patients, professionals, the environment, and the system itself.
The scholarship program has been created by Dr Gayle Avery, co-Founder of the Institute for Sustainable Leadership.
Applications close 3 March.
