President's Message
We are full steam ahead executing AIA Ohio’s 2021 strategic plan with a strong focus on Advocacy, Design, and Practice Innovation. There may still be limits on our ability to gather together in person but that has not hampered our efforts to fulfill our vision of advancing AIA Ohio and the profession through advocacy, leadership, and increasing value for our members.

Members of the Ohio General Assembly are very active, particularly considering legislation which came close to passage last session but did not make it across the finish line.
  
Advocacy Begins with You
As part of AIA Ohio’s effort to provide relevant continuing education for members, one of the primary focuses of this year’s educational programing has been advocacy. While the organization’s mission and strategic plan includes advocacy as one of our key goals, this is the first time in recent years that AIA Ohio has developed a series of programs that focus specifically on the range of topics that fall under advocacy.
Awards Scholarships
Again, this year, the AIA Ohio Foundation has continued its traditional scholarship program with the granting of scholarships this spring to the five accredited architectural programs in Ohio. The universities, which now includes Bowling Green State University, have worked with the Foundation to identify qualified recipients for these scholarship grants. While the pandemic slowed efforts in 2020, including the Foundation’s funding raising, 2021 has allowed the organization to refocus our efforts and expand on our strengths. Recognizing that scholarships can make a significant difference in the career path of students, the Foundation Trustees look forward to the opportunity to meet with the schools later this year to examine ways that our financial support of students can have a more significant impact. 
AIA Ohio Honor Awards Program - Deadline June 11

There are five AIA Ohio Honor Awards which recognize Ohio’s best and brightest architects and firms. Nominations can come from individuals or from local components. The submission deadline is June 11.

Ohio Architects’ PAC

The Ohio Architects’ PAC is one tool that AIA Ohio uses to advocate on your behalf for legislation that will improve the practice of architecture in Ohio. But we can’t do it without your support. It all begins with your contribution to the PAC.
