JANUARY 2024

Architects always have plans. So, for many of us there is something very appealing about the clean slate of a new year- an opportunity to set new goals and track positive progress in the right direction.

Our incoming board of directors is looking forward to doing just that, as they steer our association toward new growth and significant impact, and we hope that you will resolve to be involved in 2024. We look forward to seeing what the new year holds and we look forward to seeing each of you in the months ahead!

AIA KY | IIDA OHKY Legislative Day

February 15, 2024

Join colleagues from AIA Kentucky and IIDA OHKY for our annual Legislative Day at the Kentucky State Capitol where we will advocate for the importance of licensing architects and certifying interior designers, in order to protect the public health, safety and welfare – among other important issues impacting the industry.

AIA Kentucky is the voice of the architecture profession in the Commonwealth, and we encourage ALL members - regardless of legislative experience - to be a part of this event. In addition to providing talking points and tips for conversing with legislators, first-timers will be paired with more seasoned advocates to make it a stress-free and enjoyable event for everyone!

Visit our event website for additional details and registration.

2024 Membership - Renew Today!

New Dues Discount for Government Employees!**

2024 will be another important year for the architectural profession and AIA will continue working harder than ever to support you in that process. Therefore, we encourage you to renew your membership and invite others to join as well. Together, we'll make 2024 a great year!

*Contact Casey Satterly, AIA if you need a copy of your renewal invoice.

**AIA Kentucky will be piloting a dues discount for employees of government agencies for the 2024 membership year. The pilot will offer a $100 rebate to Architects employed by government agencies, and will be extended to both NEW and returning members. If the pilot is successful in 2024, it may be implemented as an upfront dues reduction in the future. The primary goal for offering this rebate is to increase membership and engagement in AIA Kentucky, so please share this announcement with any of your colleagues who are eligible and encourage them to contact AIA Kentucky with any questions!

The Last Word

Happy New Year! Although my return to the office came with a lengthy To Do list, I came back to work with renewed energy and excitement to view our work through the fresh lens of a new year.

As we jumped headfirst into the 2024 Legislative Session, Advocacy will remain a top priority for us this year. We'll also continue our mission to deliver multiple opportunities for high-quality educational content that is both interesting and relevant. Registration is open for our annual Legislative Day with IIDA, and plans are in the works for some top-notch educational webinars.

We hope you'll take advantage of these opportunities and also look for new ways to get involved throughout the year because there is no AIA without our members. We can only succeed in our work with the support of individuals like you who are willing to give their time, talent, energy and expertise. So we THANK YOU for in advance for your membership and participation, and we look forward to serving you – and seeing you – in 2024!

Cheers,

Kelly E. Ives, AIA, CAE, LEED AP
