We held our AIA International Conference from September 29th to October 3rd, hosted in London by AIA UK and in collaboration with AIA Continental Europe. Each day centred on explorations of different areas of London.

A heartfelt Thank You! to our August speaker, Yiselle Santos-Rivera, for her inspirational words. We had a fantastic discussion and lots to consider after her presentation. One take away mentioned was to, “Search for that special place where your passion, potential and purpose meet so that you can do your most revolutionary, world-changing work.”

AIA International SE ASIA 2022 Fall Symposium was an inaugural regional event, organized in collaboration with the Country Representatives of Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. As a leadership platform, it brought together the best thought leaders and practising architects from the SE Asia region to engage in a discourse on the theme Leadership in Design and Practice.

Looking ahead - AIA International 2023 Mexico City Conference - 2 - 6 November 2023
Planning for next year’s AIA International Conference in Mexico City is underway! With our Mexico Country Representatives, Jorge and Arturo Arditti, leading and support from the AIA International Board, we are putting together a conference that already looks extraordinary.

I was part of the SE ASIA 2022 Fall Symposium as a representative of Vietnam. My job was to invite an architect with a pioneering spirit and introduce them to the international AIA community. M.A. Hoang Manh was chosen to represent Vietnam in this conference with his lecture “Inside Out – Outside In”.

Currently, the UIA Professional Practice Commission consists of 35 members representing all five UIA global regions, working collaboratively to study current practice issues with an emphasis on those impacting the cross-border mobility of architects.

The AIA Canada Chapter Board engaged in an internal strategy session earlier this fall led by our Director of DEI, Pauline Thimm. The goal was to explore the Mission, Vision, Core Values and Goals of AIA National and how we can best align and implement for our Canadian Members.

On October 22, AIA Hong Kong held its AGM, along with the 3rd and final Greater Bay Area symposium.

Osamu Watanabe, the architect of the Johnson Town Renovation Project, provided guided tours to AIA Japan members, friends, and university students. The weather was sunny and perfect for a walking tour.

The American Institute of Architects, Middle East Chapter, is excited to be hosting its 9th Year End Conference and Design Awards, which will be held in the Sultanate of Oman from December 8 to December 11, 2022.
This year's theme is "Sultanate of Oman: A Canvas Untouched."

We launched our first ‘Women in Architecture’ event in Q3. The theme was 'In Pursuit of Happiness.’ Our speakers included Tianle Zhang - Founder of Firefly Studio, May Wei - Principal and Director of Shanghai Office of CRTKL, Umi Lyu - Architect/Curator and RIBA Head of Development in China, and cellist Chihying Hsieh. These remarkable women shared their experiences on how to find happiness amidst the lockdown and how to become stronger after this crisis.
