AIA National Election Results

Illya Azaroff, FAIA, has been elected to The American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Board of Directors, as 2025 President-elect/2026 President. Joshua Flowers, FAIA was elected as the 2025-2026 Secretary while Matthew Toddy, AIA was elected as 2025-2027 At-Large Director. The terms for all three elected officials begin on December 13, 2024.

We will share our experiences of things that did not go as well as we liked and what we learned from the experience. These experiences derived from our work as architects in small firms. Think of what we all master in some way, sometimes after a stubbed toe here and there: Accounting, Codes, Planning & Building Departments, Construction Observation, Computers…the list goes on.

Residences At Lake Merritt Design Tour


Join us for a tour of Residences at Lake Merritt – one of our 2023 Design Awards Nominee! Located mid-block, Residences at Lake Merritt (formerly Modera Lake Merritt) mediates between adjacent high-rise buildings to the east, mid-rise buildings to the north, and low-rise buildings to the south. The ground level is transparent and welcoming, fusing the interior to the public realm with the addition of street trees and planters that complement the existing expression of urban green.

Winston’s childhood experiences with diverse environments and communities sparked a fascination with the process of building and living differently. ABI April 2024: Pace of billings decline at architecture firms slows slightly


While the AIA/Deltek Architecture Billings Index (ABI) score for the month rose from 43.6 in March to 48.3 in April, it indicates that billings continued to decline at the majority of firms (a score below 50 indicates declining billings). Inquiries into new projects continued to increase, as there remains interest in starting new projects. However, the value of newly signed design contracts dipped slightly in April, as clients remain hesitant to commit to new work.
