Hello Rising Sophomore, Junior and Senior Students and Families,

Rebecca has reached out to a handful of folks about a Summer School class that we'd now like to share more widely. Summer School is primarily designed to help students with credit recovery when they have not passed classes so they stay on track for an on-time graduation. However, in this case, we are now offering a class as an academic enrichment opportunity open to all.

We will offer the following Summer School class at AHS in partnership with Pueblo Community College, provided we have a minimum of 8 students enrolled.

Math: The Foundation of STEAM (math or science credit)

Pueblo Community College Staff

  • Wednesday, June 5 through Tuesday, June 18 (no class Saturday or Sunday)
  • 9:00am-3:30pm all days except Fridays, which will be 9:00am-12:00pm
  • $200 course fee, lunch included

In this class, students will explore math through its application to science, technology, engineering and art. Discover how all parts of STEAM are integrated into the design and operation of a weather station while working with scientists from the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The group will visit Fozzie's Farm agricultural education center in Lewis on Tuesday, June 11 to install a weather station they help design and build. Discover geometry and measurement using CAD design and use 3D printing to create math inspired masterpieces. Successful completion of the course will result in .5 math or science credit.

Language Arts or Social Studies Credit Recovery

For students who have not successfully passed Humanities and need to recover language arts and social studies credit, we recommend Keystone, an accredited online program. Share what you plan to take with Rebecca before starting to be certain it aligns with needed credits. We accept credits from any accredited school.
