National Caregiver Day
April 2 was National Caregiver Day, a special occasion for recognizing and honouring those who provide unpaid care to those in need. We need to acknowledge the difference caregivers make every day: their contributions, their selflessness, and truly appreciate caregivers’ individual experiences.
Here is how AGI participants show their love and appreciation to those who care for them:
I dance with them.
I smile at them.
I give them a hug.
I cook for them.
I give them a present.
I tell them they are beautiful.
I play with them.
I call them.
I do things they don’t like for them.
I love my family.

AGI In Partnership with OLYMBEC
Our Poker Tournament was a full house!
| |
We're thrilled to report, AGI's Second Annual Charitable Poker Tournament was a resounding success, with over 150 guests and raised more than $60,000 towards our programs and support services. It was a night to remember, with a beautiful speech by Jean Miller, sharing her and her husband's journey with us, a shared dinner, and some great wins.
Notably, as the night was drawing to a close, the two finalists, displaying true sportsmanship, decided to come together and agreed to split the pot.
1st and 2nd Prize:
Jonathan Chomski and Emilio Iannelli
3rd Prize:
Zach Gottlieb

We would like to say a big thank you to Jean Miller, our volunteers, Olymbec, Aya Restaurant, The Tajfel Family, The William Dubrofsky Foundation, The Busner Family, The Chomski Family, CDL and everyone who attended and contributed to making this event a success. | |

Identifying Good Treatment Practices for older, English-speaking adults in Quebec
| |
Quebec’s second Action Plan against the Mistreatment of Older Adults (2017-2022) drew attention to the concept of “bientraitance” (good treatment) of older adults. The purpose of the research project is to better understand how good treatment is experienced by older, English-speaking adults who participate in the Senior Wellness Centres (SWC) Program supported by the Community Health and Social Services Network.
Darla will share some findings from the research that help to identify what good treatment means to participants and what contributes most to their experience of good treatment. Implications for practice will also be discussed.
