Rescuing Golden Retrievers & Golden Retriever Mixes Since 2003

As we welcome the arrival of May and the warmer weather it brings, we would like to take a moment to express our gratitude for all the incredible support you have given us throughout the year. Your contributions, both big and small, have made a significant difference in the lives of our furry friends.

With summer just around the corner, we are excited to share all the fun activities you can do with your four-legged friends in this newsletter! Goldens are loyal and loving companions and are perfect for outdoor adventures like swimming, hiking, and playing fetch.
Looking ahead to the coming months, we are excited to continue our work of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming golden retrievers in need. But we cannot do it alone. We need your continued support to make sure that we can provide the best care possible for these precious pups.

Whether you are able to make a donation, volunteer your time, or simply share our mission with your friends and family, your support makes a world of difference to us and to the golden retrievers we serve.
Thank you for being a part of our community, and for all that you do to help us give these dogs a new lease on life.

With gratitude,

Check Your Dog Once A Month on the 14th!
Now how exactly do you do this?
Facts about Cancer in Dogs
Did you know that 1 in 3 dogs will be diagnosed with cancer? 50% of those dogs will die from cancer. In humans, there are 1.5 million new cases of cancer each year, but in dogs, there are 6 million new cases of cancer diagnosed each year. Dog cancer prevention is key to a long healthy life with your dog.

It is important that you start your fight against canine cancer and any other health issue from the day you bring your dog home. Checking your dog once a month for lumps and bumps or any abnormal behavior is key in the prevention of any health issue with your dog. We recommend doing it on the 14th of every month. Checking your dog will be a great little bonding time with your dog. If you are starting with a young dog, this time will also prepare them for their future vet wellness visits.
Now how exactly do you do this?
Start at their nose and work all the way to their tail. Make sure you are in a familiar, low-key environment where you and your pet can do this without distraction. In other words, not during dinner time or when you expect the mailman to be buzzing by the house.

Also, make sure you keep a journal of each of your Check Your Dog days so you will have notes to compare with should something arise.

Orphan of the Month: Buddha
I just had a birthday this month and now I am 8 years old.
My family had to move and I couldn’t go with them. I feel kind of lost and not sure what’s ahead for me but everyone is being kind and told me they will find another home for me with people who…

Does Your Dog Have Allergies?
Or is it something else?
Summer Pup

Lots of pets suffer from allergies in today's world, and a major cause of the condition in dogs is food (the other is the environment).

Recognizing your dog's allergic response is food-related, and identifying the specific food or ingredient, can be a challenge.
