National Philanthropy Day
celebrates
philanthropy and highlights the accomplishments, large and small, of all those involved in the in the philanthropic process that contributes so richly to our society and our world. The purpose of this day is to recognize the great contributions of those active in the philanthropic community.
We all have many great volunteers and donors, but a small budget to truly steward and thank those donors. National Philanthropy Day is a wonderful way to host those special donors and celebrate all they do with a beautiful lunch and program.
We look forward to seeing you at National Philanthropy Day 2016!
All the best,
Karen Derrick, Erin Wescott, and Erin McDonald

President-Elect's Message
November 2016
|
We're giving President Katherine Curtis a break from writing her message this month, so that I can share important and exciting news with you about the work of setting direction for our Chapter over the next three years.
In my role as President-Elect, one of my responsibilities is to work with the Executive Committee and Board to develop and/or assure the review of the Chapter's strategic plan. As we come to the end of our 2014-2016 plan and head into 2017-2019 planning, there are some key steps in this process.
Current Executive Committee members, Directors and Committee Chairs met in late September to launch this planning project. We analyzed the current stated goals, objectives and action steps, rating each as Completed, In Process, Planning to Do and Needs Attention. We reviewed the Mission, Vision, Values and Goal statements, established in 2014, making edits and additions we felt were needed to reflect the core elements of the strategic plan going forward.
In November, this same group, along with those elected/appointed and taking office in January, will gather to begin the task of identifying objectives and action steps for the next three years. We will work in groups aligned with the structure and operations of the Chapter.
We invite input from you on target areas you would like to see included in our plan for the next three years of our Chapter. Feel free to use the following segments as a guide for your thoughts or go ahead and think out-of-the-box!
- Member Services (Recruitment, Retention, Mentoring, Scholarships)
- Governance (Policy, Ethics, Legislative Affairs)
- Professional Development (Programs, Conferences, Webinars, CFRE)
- Community Relations (Public Relations, National Philanthropy Day)
Send me an email by November 2 if you have thoughts and ideas you want to contribute.
It will likely take several group work/review sessions before we come to agreement on the 2017-2019 plan to present to the Board for their approval. I'm hoping I can do that before the end of the first quarter in 2017.
Thanks to all involved and to each of you for being part of the AFP Fort Worth Metro Chapter!
