Learn More About Artist Sara David Ringler!
Artist Statement
Image making is a way to interact and reflect my experiences. Through printmaking I arrange alter and layer forms of shape and color. I enjoy exploring variation and combine a variety of media making visual connections. I constantly find inspiration from nature, the figure or simply responding to what is around me when I travel.
I focus mostly on monotype printmaking by directly painting on a plate and additionally use other printmaking techniques such as etching, lithography, woodcut or photography. I like the fluidity of working back and forth in these media as I strive for an organic balance by listening to the energy in a piece. I create visual stories of memory, place and time.
In addition to my professional career as a painter and a printmaker I am an art professor teaching drawing, printmaking, design, book arts and paper-making at Cape Cod Community College for over 20 years. I enjoy an ever- inspiring interaction between creating and teaching art.
In the last few years I have explored digital processes to layer, alter and combine drawing and printmaking. As part of ArtSynergies, a group of eight artists, www.artsynergies.com, I have embarked on an exploration of how digital images can be combined with traditional techniques of printmaking to expand creative possibility. This digital work will be included in the exhibition Exposure: Beneath the Layers at the Cotuit Center for the Arts Oct.10 to November 25th.

Calling All Performance Artists and Musicians!
Organizers of
Wellfleet
the OysterFest have recognized the limited number of performance opportunities at the 'Fest compared to the significant amount of talent in our community. It is for this reason that the Entertainment Selection Committee has developed a new performance opportunity this year by adding a Street Performer or Busker category. These additional performance slots will be located throughout the event site and are intended to enliven the 'Fest while providing artists a chance to be appreciated by the festival's 25,000 attendees!
The 15th annual Wellfleet OysterFest will be held on October 17 & 18, 2015 from 10am until 5pm, rain or shine. There is no fee to participate as a Busker, donations may be collected and no merchandise may be sold. This is also an opportunity to be heard by the OysterFest Entertainment Selection Committee and perhaps the first step toward a Main Stage time slot!
Here is a
link to the application that contains all the information that you will need. Feel free to share it with your performer friends. It will also be posted on the home page our website shortly.
Busker Applications are due by July 31, 2015. Notifications and the performance schedule will be sent out two weeks after the deadline.
