Nurturing the Next Generation of Teachers

In an effort to showcase teaching as a career to high school students, the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) is proud to share the first of a series of videos promoting educational pathways and the impact of careers in education. This video tells the story of Brett Sarnoski, a Central Columbia School District teacher who is educating and nurturing students in an exemplary manner while helping to grow and inspire generations of future teachers. The CSIU invites you to watch and share this story:

Pennsylvania is facing a critical teacher shortage. The Pennsylvania Department of

Education (PDE) has reported a 66% drop in college undergraduates choosing

education as a major and in-state teaching certificates since 2010. Also reported was a

58% drop in out-of-state teaching certificates since 2013. Only two of the 50 states have

suffered a more significant decline in teachers. According to a new analysis of state

education data, the number of emergency hires in 2020-21 surpassed the count of

teachers newly certified through in-state programs, which not only reinforces the

desperate need for teachers, but makes a case for non-traditional pathways into

education.

Every district has stories like this, and the CSIU wants to help tell these stories--not only

to demonstrate the positive impact teachers make but to share the creative ways that

districts and service agencies are creating pathways for students to enter careers in

education.

Creating and sharing forms created with Google Forms is simple and easy. While the first applications that come to mind are surveys, some of the most effective uses are for forms that we create for ourselves or for our teams. We will explore many of the capabilities and examine simple and practical uses. The best forms are easy to use and appealing to the eye. Data from a google form seamlessly port to Google Sheets, making it easy to organize and sort results. There are also many opportunities to use forms for collaboration between office staff and teams or an administrator.
