CLIENT ADVISORY

GPA contingency plans for possible work stoppage on October 1

To our Customers, Business Partners and Stakeholders,

The USMX/ILA negotiations are ongoing for U.S. East Coast and Gulf Ports and the current contract expires October 1, 2024.

Our contingency plan is:

Garden City Terminal in the Port of Savannah

Imports: We recommend you take delivery of your cargo well before October 1 to minimize any disruptions and avoid storage costs on terminal. We will offer weekend gates to support this effort.

Exports: We will receive exports up to September 30.

Reefer exports: We will receive reefer exports up to September 30.

However, GPA will not be responsible for loss or damage to contents of reefers not loaded on vessels before September 30 as they will not be monitored and maintained if the port is closed due to a work stoppage.

Free time: GPA will not charge for storage during a work stoppage (i.e. all containers are on “free time” during any work stoppage)
