Radiation Oncology Abstract Submission for #ACVR2024 Closes July 15!


Radiation Oncology abstracts are now being accepted for the 2024 ACVR Annual Scientific Conference! Submissions are being accepted online. Residents and Non-Residents are invited to submit.

 

Abstracts will be invited to present in-person at the conference in Norfolk, Virginia. Submission of an abstract (for oral or poster presentation) implies that the author(s) will register for the conference and be available to present the abstract at this year’s annual conference, if accepted.  


The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Monday, July 15, 2024, at 11:59 pm PDT. More information on abstract submission can be found using the link below.

Reminder to Residency Directors - Resident Reporting & Biannual Resident Assessment Due July 31


Please be sure to register your residents (including newly matched candidates starting this summer) with the administrative office this summer. Timely reporting from our approved programs ensures accurate records and allows for a smoother experience for your residents. The Resident Reporting Form can be found on our website. Once your residents are registered with ACVR, administrative staff will be in touch to finalize their website account.


Biannual Resident Evaluations are due July 31, 2024. As a reminder, each resident will need a separate review form. (For example - if you have 3 residents, you will need to submit this form 3 times.) This form can be found on our website.

Virtual Equine Diagnostic Imaging Course & Live Case Discussions Available Now


The Large Animal Diagnostic Imaging Society is happy to continue to offer the virtual equine diagnostic imaging course in 2024 and beyond. The course will be offered online-only, year-round for ACVR residents, post-trainees, and ACVR diplomates, with the ability to purchase only the didactic content or didactic content and a live case discussion session:

  • The didactic content will be available for viewing for 6 months after purchase. 
  • The live/case interaction portions of the course will be held twice yearly, in June and January. 
  • Each case discussion session will include 6 total hours of live case discussions with 6 different instructors. 
  • Purchase of the didactic content is required for purchase of the case discussion session. 
  • The case discussion sessions will be capped at 28 participants with any additional interested parties to be added to a waitlist. 


The Summer 2024 LIVE Case Discussions will be held July 22-24, 2024. If there is a need for a second session, it will be be held July 15-17, 2024.

Dr. Michael Bailey Elected AVMA President-Elect


The AVMA House of Delegates (HOD) elected Dr. Michael Q. Bailey as 2024-25 AVMA president-elect on Friday, June 21. Dr. Bailey is the AVMA’s first Black president-elect and will be the Association’s president when Dr. Sandra Faeh’s term expires in next July during AVMA Convention 2025 in Washington, D.C.

ACVR Diplomate Receives FDP Lifetime Achievement Award from AVMA


On June 21, 2024, the American Veterinary Medical Association presented the Fredrick Douglass Patterson Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Ruby Perry, DVM, DACVR. 


The award recognized an AVMA member veterinarian who has made significant contributions to the veterinary profession through innovative leadership in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion; and who has demonstrated a commitment to advancing these values within the veterinary profession.

  • Dr. Paula Yoon, Colorado State University - “Abdominal ultrasonographic and clinicopathological characteristics of noneffusive feline infectious peritonitis in cats pre and post treatment with antiviral drug (EIDD-2801).”
  • Dr. Alexander Chapple, University of California, Davis - “Evaluation of a 68Ga-Bisphosphonate agent as an alternative to 18F-NaF for PET imaging in horses.”
  • Dr. Jason Johnson, Auburn University - “A comparison of the diagnostic quality of fine needle non-aspiration techniques of the canine spleen with or without a syringe attached.”
  • Dr. Kiran Vasudeva, University of Missouri - “Ultrasonographic and Computed Tomographic examination of the thyroid gland in horses in agreement with histopathology and serum thyroid hormone levels.”

Diplomate Research Grant Award - Submissions for the 2024 Diplomate Research Grant Awards are due by Friday, June 28. Research proposal submissions must be submitted electronically as a single zip file. Applicants should submit their grants to the Research Grant Upload page.
